Apply fusible fleece to the wrong side of the outer fabric (or layer it with batting). Quilt the piece in a 45-degree diamond grid pattern.
Place the front pocket's outer fabric and lining with right sides together (RST).
Stitch along the top edge, turn it right side out, and topstitch the top edge for a clean finish.
Align the front pocket with the bottom edge of the main fabric.
Baste (temporarily stitch) the three sides to secure it in place.
Fold the inner pocket fabric in half with right sides together.
Sew around the edges, leaving a turning gap to flip it right side out.
Turn the pocket right side out and topstitch the top edge.
Position it onto the main lining fabric and sew around the remaining three sides.
Sandwich the zipper between the outer and lining fabrics of the zipper gusset and stitch.
Turn the pieces right side out and topstitch along the length of the zipper to prevent the lining from catching.
Place the handles on the zipper gusset and sew 15㎝(6″) from each end to secure them firmly.
Join the short ends of the zipper gusset and the bottom gusset. Stitch them together to create one complete, continuous loop.
Mark the center points on the top and bottom of both the main panels and the gusset.
Align these center marks and sew around the perimeter with a 0.7㎝(1/4″) seam allowance.
Bind the raw seam allowances with bias tape for a professional finish.
Your lunch bag is now complete!
