Super Easy Large Travel Bag with Handy Pockets

Traveling becomes so much easier when you have the right bag!

I decided to sew a large travel bag that's not only roomy but also very easy to make—even for beginners.
With a wide bottom, multiple pockets, and the ability to attach it to a suitcase handle, this bag is a game changer for trips.

Follow along with my step-by-step video and make one for your next adventure!

The finished measurements of this bag are approximately
45㎝(17¾″) W × 28㎝(11⅛″) H ×20㎝(8″) D.

Let's get started!!

◆ Main Panel
①  67㎝ × 78㎝ (26½″ × 30⅞″) Outer layer
①  67㎝ × 78㎝ (26½″ × 30⅞″) Lining
①  64㎝ × 76㎝ (25⅜″ × 30″) Fusible fleece
◆ Bottom panel
①  47㎝ × 22㎝ (18⅝″ × 8¾″) Outer layer
◆ Front pocket
①  22㎝ × 32㎝ (8¾″ × 12⅝″) Outer layer
◆ Back pocket
①  22㎝ × 37㎝ (8¾″ × 14⅝″) Outer layer
①  22㎝ × 37㎝ (8¾″ × 14⅝″) Lining
◆ Inside pocket
①  37㎝ × 38㎝ (14⅝″ × 15″) Lining
◆ Others
①  45㎝ (17¾″) Zipper
①  20㎝ (8″) Zipper
①  2.5㎝ (1″) Wide Webbing Strap 240㎝ (95″)

Cut the interfacing into the shape of the pattern.
Fuse the fusible fleece, centered, to the wrong side.

Place the zipper pocket on the back side of the bag and sew.

Place the front pocket on the front side of the bag and sew.
Place and sew the handles 20㎝(8″) apart.

Fold the top and bottom of the bottom panel inward by 1㎝(3/8″),
then place the bottom panel in the center of the main panel and sew.

With assembled lining right side up, center zipper right side facing up along top edge.
Place the outer layer, right side down on top. Pin in place.
Using your zipper foot, sew along top edge using a 1㎝(3/8″) seam allowance.

Flip the layers so the outer bag pieces are right sides together, and the lining pieces are right sides together.
Sew with an allowance of about 1㎝(3/8″), leaving an opening on the lining.

Combine the seams so that a flat base is formed.
Sew with an allowance of about 1㎝(3/8″).

Turn it right side out by pulling the fabric through the opening.
And sew up this opening.

You are finished!!!
