DIY Small Zipper Wallet with Card Holder and Coin Pocket Using Denim Scraps

DIY Small Zipper Wallet with Card Holder and Coin Pocket Using Denim Scraps

Today, I’m excited to share how to make a cute and functional small zipper wallet using leftover denim fabric.

This wallet features zippers on two sides, which allow it to open wide for easy access to everything inside.
It includes multiple card slots and a coin pocket, making it perfect for everyday use despite its compact size.

The denim material gives it a stylish and durable finish, and it only gets better with time.
Even if you’re a beginner in sewing, don’t worry—I’ve broken down each step clearly so you can easily follow along.
This is a great upcycling project that turns your fabric scraps into something truly useful!

The finished measurements of this wallet are approximately
12㎝(4¾″) W × 10㎝(4″) H.

Let's get started!!

◆ Main Panel
②  14㎝ × 12㎝ (5⅝″ × 4¾″) Outer layer
②  14㎝ × 12㎝ (5⅝″ × 4¾″) Lining
②  12㎝ × 10㎝ (4¾″ × 4″) Mid-weight woven fusible interfacing
◆ Card holder
②  12㎝ × 34㎝ (4¾″ × 13½″) Lining
②  9㎝ × 31㎝ (3⅝″ × 12¼″) Mid-weight woven fusible interfacing
◆ Coin pocket
①  25㎝ × 10㎝ (9⅞″ × 4″) Outer layer
①  25㎝ × 10㎝ (9⅞″ × 4″) Lining
①  23㎝ × 8㎝ (9⅛″ × 3¼″) Mid-weight woven fusible interfacing
◆ Others
①  20㎝ (8″) Zipper

Cut the interfacing into the shape of the pattern.
Fuse the interfacing, centered, to the wrong side of the outer layer.

Fold and sew the card holder fabric to a size that can fit a credit card.

Clip the corners and turn it right side out by pulling the fabric through the opening.
Place the card holder on the right side of the lining and sew.

With assembled outer layer right side up, zipper right side facing down along top and right edge.
Using your zipper foot, sew along top edge using a 1㎝(3/8″) seam allowance.
Place the lining, right side down and sew.
Open out, press pieces away from the zipper.
Attach the outer and lining to the other side of the zip the same way.
Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on both 3㎜ (1/8″) away from the zipper.

Flip the layers so the outer bag pieces are right sides together, and the lining pieces are right sides together.
Sew the bottom.

Turn it right side out.
Fold the side seams of each outer layer and lining inward by 1㎝(3/8″).
And sew the side together.

Fold the coin pocket fabric in half and sew the sides.
Flip the lining right side out, place it inside the outer layer.
Sew the top together.
Turn them right side out, fold the bottom edges of both the outer and lining inward by 1㎝(3/8″).
And sew them together.
Then, divide the fabric into three sections and sew the bottoms together.

Place the coin pocket on the side of the wallet and sew.

You are finished!!!
