Sew a Cute Zipper Bag with Just One Rectangle of Fabric!

Ever thought about sewing your own purse but worried it’s too tricky?

Here’s a simple and satisfying project that’s ideal for beginners!

All you need is one piece of fabric and a zipper, and you’ll have a cute, handmade bag in no time.

Follow along for the easiest method to create your own custom bag!

The finished measurements of this bag are approximately

20㎝(8″) W × 13㎝(5⅛″) H × 13㎝(5⅛″) D.

① 32㎝ × 72㎝ (12⅝″ × 28½″) Outer layer

② 11㎝ × 4.5㎝ (4⅜″ × 1¾″) Outer layer

① 2.5㎝ (1″) Wide Webbing Strap 64cm (25⅜″)

① 30㎝ (11⅞″) Zipper

Place the webbing strap on the right side of the fabric.

Sew the bag strap, leaving center.

Place the zipper right sides together on top of the outer layer.

Sew with an allowance of about 1㎝(3/8″).

Open out, press pieces away from the zipper.

Attach the outer to the other side of the zip the same way.

Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on both 0.2㎝(1/8”) away from the zipper.

Fold the fabric in half and sew within 1㎝(3/8″) every 7㎝(2¾″) of side.

Fold it 7㎝(2¾″) apart and gather it.

Fold the other side in the same way.

Sew the both sides with an allowance of about 1㎝(3/8″).

Place and sew the small fabric on the right side of the seam allowance.

Fold the small fabric twice, cover the seam allowance, and sew.
