① 4㎝ (1⅝″) Wide bias tape 50㎝(19¾″)
① 3㎜ (1/8″) strip of cording 50㎝(19¾″)
Place the piece of fabric for your pocket lining face down, right sides together over your outer piece.
Draw a long rectangular box which the teeth of your zipper will fit inside.
Then stitch exactly around the rectangle you just drew.
Draw another line through the center of the rectangle right across.
At each end, draw a triangle from the corners to that center line.
Carefully cut along the center line until your reach the triangle, and then snip into the corners, close to, but not through, your line of stitching.
Turn the lining fabric through the hole you just cut and out to the back.
Press the opening neatly.
Time now to place our zipper.
Sewing with the front upper most, stitch around the opening to secure the zipper in place.
Fold up the pocket lining and pin along the 3 open sides.
Stitch the 3 sides of the pocket lining , making sure to only sew the lining, not through the outer fabric as well.
Fold the dart, matching up the lines as best as you can. Slowly sew along the marked line.
Place the right sides together of the outer and lining and sew with an allowance of about 1㎝(3/8″), leaving an opening.
Turn it right side out by pulling the fabric through the opening. Press and sew the top.
Place the front pocket on the right side of the outer layer and sew, leaving the top.
Lay a strip of cording down the center of the wrong side of bias tape.
Fold the strip over the piping and secure it with pins.
Place the strip under the zipper foot and adjust the needle.
Sew along the folded bias tape.
Pin the piping the the right side of your fabric.
Tuck the raw end of the piping into the folded end.
Baste the piping to the fabric.
Place the right sides together of the outer and lining and sew with an allowance of about 1㎝(3/8″), leaving the top.
Turn right side out.
Place the handle on the right side of the flap and sew.
Place the flap on the right side of the main panel and sew.
Match the triangle shape sides of the main fabric.
Sew only up to the point.
Use the same process to sew the other triangle shape sides.
Now sew the sides.
Sew the lining in the same way.
Place and pin the lining of the bag over the top of the outer layer with the right sides together.
Leave an opening in the side.
Turn it right side out by pulling the fabric through the opening.
Sew the opening hole close.
Topstitch all the way around of the top of the bag entrance.
You are finished!!!
